I’m sorry to see the end of Borders.  When I lived in Oklahoma, I looked forward to my bi-weekly Atomik Pop-and-Borders trip.   I bought tons of books, drank a lot of hot chai, and learned so much (as I said, I bought a lot of books there).

When I moved to Portland, I shopped more often at Powells, but I still made trips to the Borders on S.W. Morrison Street.

My thoughts are with the 11,000+ Borders employees around the U.S. who are now out of a job.   My hope is that they find employment with stable companies.  Some authors have noted that small publishers will go out of business as a result of the liquidation.  And bookstore chains like Borders replaced independent bookstores, so now many towns won’t have a bookstore.

I accept that change is part of life, but man, I sure hope the volatility in the publishing/book world ends soon!
